From Pop-Up to Permanent: Our Calder Way Story
Share
We opened a Pop-Up at 236 Calder Way during the 2024 football season with one intention: a true, one-and-done experience for a few weeks. It featured PSU gear, and while a few Town Pride pieces made an appearance, we were not yet “Town Pride State College.” It wasn’t a test run or a soft launch—it was simply a moment in time we wanted to be part of downtown.
Then the magic of Downtown State College did what it does.
Students started popping in on their way to or from class {still my favorite part of every day}, neighbors stopped to chat, and visitors told us how much it felt like "State College in sweater form." Standing in that little space, I could suddenly see it clearly: there was a real alignment between Town Pride and State College/PSU; you know, a natural fit that deserved something lasting.
Because of that spark, and the support of some incredible partners, temporary turned into permanent. Huge thanks to Downtown State College Imporovement District (especially Kendra Kielbasa), Continental Real Estate (especially Dave Fonash), and Comet Properties for helping us make the leap. With their encouragement and behind-the-scenes help, we moved next door to 240 Calder Way, and became the first business from the Calder Way Pop-Up to put down roots.
We’re still the shop where conversations start, where locals bring out-of-town friends, and where students swing by between classes. Only now, the lights stay on for good.
Come see us at 240 Calder Way. The door’s open, the sweaters are cozy, and the welcome is always warm.
