My Thoughts on Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year: Cloud Dancer
Share
When Pantone announces its Color of the Year, I pay attention, but not in a trend forecasting kind of way. I look at it more like a consumer. Does it feel wearable? Does it feel livable? Can I picture it in my home, my closet, or our store?
If you follow fashion or design, you have most certainly seen Cloud Dancer, Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year, talked about for a while now.
In recent years, the colors have been bold and energetic. Not really my jam. Fun, yes, but not always easy to live with. Cloud Dancer feels calmer and more grounded. It does not demand attention. It settles in and makes everything around it feel a little softer.
What I like most is that it works as a base. It pairs easily, does not feel seasonal; kind of like something you can return to again and again. From a shopper’s perspective, that matters. I want colors that work with what I already own, not something that feels over by the time April rolls around.
From a store perspective, it fits the way we already think at Town Pride. It layers well, feels cozy without being heavy, and works whether you are dressing up or keeping it casual.
Pantone colors can sometimes feel conceptual. This one feels practical, and that is probably why I like it so much. It quietly reinforces the idea that comfort, ease, and longevity matter.
If you stop into Town Pride this winter or spring, you will probably notice we are already leaning into colors that feel this way. Nothing forced. Just pieces that feel good now and still will later.
Sometimes the best colors are the ones that simply make you feel at home.
